vendi joins UCL’s startup hub in King’s Cross.

At vendi, we are proud to announce that we have been accepted into UCL’s programme for startups at UCL KX Base which supports promising young entrepreneurs and startups.

About vendi:

vendi is a person-to-person marketplace for quality products, starting with phones. As a seller, take two pictures and the item is listed and priced for you (using Machine Learning powered models). As a buyer, all items are verified by the vendi network.

Pablo Gonzalez-Iglesias, who completed part of his Master’s at UCL, met Anil Rao working at Cisco. This allowed them to understand they complemented each other and wanted to solve the same problem in marketplaces using AI enabled tech.

Peer-to-peer marketplaces are great but lack trust, relevance, and quality. They have set out to create the Amazon of peer-to-peer. You will never get scammed on vendi and they offer doing the logistics and all the hassle of communication for you, maintaining the best prices in the market for new and pre-owned devices.

About UCL:

UCL is one of the world’s top multidisciplinary universities, ranked amongst the top 20 in the world with an international reputation for the quality of its research and teaching.

Companies like DeepMind (bought by Google for £400M) started their journey at UCL. UCL’s support for entrepreneurs is invaluable.

Pablo Gonzalez-Iglesias, coFounder of vendi:

“We are honoured to be in an environment amongst some amazing startups and are looking forward to the next few months as we seek to further grow. We’d like to thank the UCL and the Hatchery team including Jillian, Bao and Doug for the mentorship and advice which they have already offered us thus far.

We are excited to grow in this dynamic environment that the Hatchery has created and look forward to what the future has to bring for vendi.”

If you are currently a student at UCL and looking to start your own company; don’t be afraid to fail and just do it! There is never an optimum time to start a company as you’re always constantly learning. We cannot recommend enough the Hatchery Programme that UCL offers.
